Water Overages - Review Your Bills

Many residents have had water overage charges this summer. Please take an extra minute to look at your next bill and adjust your next payment to reflect the actual amount due.  As this is a dry summer, many residents are over their base allotment and will have water overage charges. Call the office if you have any questions at 259-3946 or email dw2@dgowest2.com.

Current Water Rates

As a reminder to residents, the current base amount of water included in your metro fees is 6,000 gallons. Water used over this amount is subject to overage charges. Please see current water rates.

Budget Ideas Welcome

The District will be preparing next year’s budget.  If you have ideas that you would like the Board to consider as expenditures in 2026, please email them to dw2@dgowest2.com with contact information by September 10th. The monthly fees paid by residents are directed toward the operations and maintenance of our water, sewer, roads and open space.

Happy Back in School – SLOW DOWN

School children are back in school and they (and parents) are walking in the subdivision to and from the bus in the mornings and afternoons. SLOW DOWN as you drive through the neighborhood and be conscientious of our students, neighbors, pets and wildlife!

Find Your Water Shutoff

If you don't know where your main water shut off is located outside, now is the time to locate and mark it. Some residents have landscaped over theirs. It is important that you know where your shut off is for repairs, emergency, etc. and have it accessible to you and the district. If you don't know where it is, you can contact our water operator to assist you for a fee or contact Novo Utility Services, Tommy Novotny at 303-999-9892 who can help you. www.novoutilityservices.com. Please let the district know when you find it so we can add it to our GIS database.

Autopay from Banks vs DW2 Electronic Funds Transfer

For those residents who use autopay through their bank, please read the following:  The district is not responsible for post office or bank errors with this type of autopay. These can result in the checks going to the wrong Post Office Box and delays in delivering the envelopes to the Durango post office. Some residents think that it is basically an electronic transfer. It is not. There are several steps along the way. When you tell your bank to autopay, they cut a physical check to DW2 and mail it. Then the district picks it up from the post office, opens the envelope and deposits the check. If you would like to cut out these middle steps, cut paper use and avoid future issues and late fees or missed payments resulting from such issues, you can sign up for the DW2 autopay. Your monthly DW2 fees will be automatically deducted from your bank account on the 5th of each month. Just fill out the form and return it via email or put in the secure drop box under the window at the mail building.

Road Projects Update

All major projects have been completed for this year.  There will be some more road painting done in early September.

District Policies

District policies are found on our website under the About Us tab and directly at this link:  https://www.dgowest2.com/policies. Please note that all policies of the board are subject to change, so check back with our website for any updates.

Wildfire Mitigation

This year's District greenbelt wildfire mitigation project was completed in June.  Homeowners are responsible for fire mitigation on their property as well.  See our local Wildfire Adapted Partnership website for mitigation resources along with resources on Defensible Space and Home Ignition Zones.

Nuisance Barking - Be Considerate

Warm weather means more windows are open, day and night.  Please be considerate of your neighbors.  Barking dogs, in particular, are not only annoying to your neighbors but can be a violation of the La Plata County Code. To report a violation of the code, please contact the La Plata County Humane Society at (970) 259-2847.  More information

Fire Hydrants - Three Foot Clearance

If you have a fire hydrant on your property, please keep it accessible year-round.  Now is a great time to remove shrubs, branches, etc that block visual and physical access.  There should be a three-foot clear circle around the hydrant.

Next Board Meeting is September 17th  at 5 p.m. at the Mail House.
