DW2 E-New October 2025
HAPPY FALL
Budget Public Hearing
The public hearing for the 2026 proposed budget will take place at the October regular board meeting on Wednesday, October 15th at 5 p.m. at the mail building. Residents are welcome to attend.
Take a Few Minutes - Clean Up
The district is asking residents to clean the curb gutter and street in front of your home (and side of homes if on a corrner) to help prevent clogging storm drains. Whether you have alot or a little, it all adds up. The semi-annual street cleaning won't happen until early November and we are likely going to have some further heavy rainstorms. Thank you to all the residents who take a few minutes periodically to clean up.
Pond Area Update
The district has been monitoring the pond level every year and running evaporation numbers. We have expected it to dry up at some point. At the beginning of the summer, there was 18 inches on the guage in the middle of the pond. This summer was extremely dry and hot. As many residents are aware, the water completely dried up this summer with two small pools on either end - even after the big rains.
The board has been looking at options and is currently working with a landscaper to develop a few alternatives. The options they are looking at make the space usable, keep the native plants and trees and provide for drainage (ie. meandering seasonal stream or detention pond area). When the board gets these options - hopefully by the end of the year - it will reach out to residents.
Update Email Address - Cedar /Ting No Longer Providing Service
We understand that Cedar/Ting Internet will no longer be providing internet and email services in Durango. Many of you still have our old email address dw2@mydurango.net. Please update your contact information for the district to dw2@dgowest2.com
For those residents who have an email address through Cedar/Ting, please email the district with your new email address. You can email: dw2@dgowest2.com. Thank you.
Bears are Back - Respect Our Bears - See below for more information
Sewer Service Lines
The District is not responsible for residential sewer lines and is not liable for sewer back-ups so residents are encouraged to check their homeowner insurance policy. It is also recommended to inspect your lines periodically. RotoRooter, M&R and other companies provide this service.
Review Your Bills - Please Pay Correct Amount
All residents need to take an extra minute to look at your next bill and adjust your next payment to reflect the actual amount due. Call the office if you have any questions at 259-3946 or email dw2@dgowest2.com.
Current Water Rates
As a reminder to residents, the current base amount of water included in your metro fees is 6,000 gallons. Water used over this amount is subject to overage charges. Please see current water rates.
Autopay from Banks vs DW2 Electronic Funds Transfer
For those residents who use autopay through their bank, please read the following: The district is not responsible for post office or bank errors with this type of autopay. These can result in the checks going to the wrong Post Office Box and delays in delivering the envelopes to the Durango post office. If you would like to ensure that your payment is correct each month and avoid late fees or missed payments resulting from such issues, you can sign up for the DW2 autopay. Your monthly DW2 fees will be automatically deducted from your bank account on the 5th of each month for the amount you owe.
Find Your Water Shutoff
If you don't know where your main water shut off is located outside, now is the time to locate and mark it. Some residents have landscaped over theirs. It is important that you know where your shut off is for repairs, emergency, etc. and have it accessible to you and the district. If you don't know where it is, you can contact our water operator to assist you for a fee or contact Novo Utility Services, Tommy Novotny at 303-999-9892 who can help you. www.novoutilityservices.com. Please let the district know when you find it so we can add it to our GIS database.
District Policies
District policies are found on our website under the About Us tab and directly at this link: https://www.dgowest2.com/policies. Please note that all policies of the board are subject to change, so check back with our website for any updates.
Fire Hydrants - Three Foot Clearance
If you have a fire hydrant on your property, please keep it accessible year-round. Now is a great time to remove shrubs, branches, etc that block visual and physical access. There should be a three-foot clear circle around the hydrant.
Next Board Meeting is October 15th at 5 p.m. at the Mail House.
