Street Sweeping Starts November 4
Street sweeping will begin Tuesday, November 4th (weather dependent) and last for the remainder of the week. DO NOT park on the street. Your help in removing needles in front of your residence will help reduce the time the street sweeper will be on the road, thereby reducing the cost to the district. It’s a good time to take a few minutes to clean up the street curb gutter in front of your house. Maintaining a clean gutter in front of your property is cucial to keeping water moving and not pooling along the road and gutters causing damage to the roads as well as to keep debris out of the storm drains so they do not back up. Thank you to everyone who takes a few minutes to help with this important task!
Budget Adoption
The Board reviewed the proposed 2026 Budget at the October 15th Budget Hearing board meeting. The budget has $788,218 total revenues and $1,014,302 total expenditures with an expected deficit of $226,084. The majority of this deficit is in the Wastewater Fund due to improvements the State is requiring and in the Water Fund due to replacement of pipeline leading to the tanks. The 2026 budget contains $208,325 for water purchase from Lake Durango Water Authority; $132,000 n road maintenance; and $30,120 in wildfire mitigation. The 2026 Budget will be adopted, according to state law, at the November 19th meeting.
Altering Greenbelt is Prohibited; No Motorized Vehicles Allowed on Trails
Please be aware that the greenbelt areas are district property. Therefore, digging, trenching, altering or otherwise damaging or changing the greenbelt in any way is prohibited by District policy. Specifically, constructing bike jumps on the trails or in the greenbelt is prohibited. This needs to be communicated to all members of your household. Damaged areas should be restored by those responsible.
Residents should report any evidence of such alterations immediately to the district. See Greenbelt Prohibitions policy on the policy page. Repairing the damage could mean reallocating expenditures of already limited funds.
Any type or size of motorized vehicle is strictly prohibited from any trail or district greenbelt area.
LPEA Upgrade Project

Please Review Your Bill
All residents are asked to take an extra moment to review your next bill and ensure your payment matches the actual amount due. Because charges vary based on water use and late fees, residents who have autopay through their individual banks set for the base rate may fall behind without realizing it. Please note that the District is not responsible for post office or bank errors with this type of autopay, which can result in checks being sent to the wrong P.O. Box and delays in reaching the Durango post office.
The most efficient way to pay your bill is through the District’s full autopay/electronic funds transfer service. With this option, your monthly DW2 fees are automatically deducted from your bank account on the 5th of each month for the exact amount you owe. This ensures your bill is always paid in full and helps the District save time and money that would otherwise go toward tracking down late payments. If you have any questions, please call the office at 259-3946 or email dw2@dgowest2.com.

Fire Hydrants - Three Foot Clearance
If you have a fire hydrant on your property, please keep it accessible year-round. Now is a great time to remove shrubs, branches, etc that block visual and physical access. There should be a three-foot clear circle around the hydrant.
Next Board Meeting is November 19th at 5 p.m. at the Mail House.
