New Water Restrictions Days and TImes

New Watering Restrictions Days and Times Effective April 26, 2026
Due to this exceptional drought year and current extreme fire danger, DW2 implemented Stage 1 Water Restrictions as required by our water supplier, Lake Durango Water Authority. The DW2 Board approved the following revision to the watering schedule effective April 26th.
WATERING DAYS WATERING TIMES COLORED AREA
Monday & Thursday Before 9 am or after 6 pm Green
*Maximum of 2 hours/scheduled day
Tuesday & Friday Before 9 am or after 6 pm Yellow
*Maximum of 2 hours/scheduled day
Wednesday & Saturday Before 9 am or after 6 pm Pink
*Maximum of 2 hours/scheduled day
Outside watering is strictly prohibited on Sundays to allow our water system storage tanks to recharge.

The District’s primary concern is providing water to residents for indoor use (cooking, bathing, toilets, etc.) and having enough water storage to meet or preferably exceed the requirements set by the state of Colorado for firefighting.
Southwest Colorado has been experiencing a prolonged severe drought. A winter with very little snowpack places us in an extreme drought. Residents should always practice water conservation as a condition of living here. This year is even more important. Look at ways you can increase conserving this summer by letting go of some of your outside plans that require watering. While the metro fee includes 6,000 gallons with the base charge, this does not mean residents should use the full amount and they are encouraged to conserve wherever possible. As a community, water conservation needs to be a way of life. Colorado Waterwise offers great tips for conserving water inside and outside. Check out their website.
Current Water Rate Schedule*:
0 – 6,000 gallons included in base monthly fee
6,001 – 8,000 gallons $7 per thousand gallons
8,001 – 10,000 gallons $10 per thousand gallons
10,001 – 15,000 gallons $15 per thousand gallons
15,001 – 30,000 gallons $25 per thousand gallons
30,001+ gallons $50 per thousand gallons
*These rates may change subject to drought conditions and corresponding watering restrictions.
